Who are we?

We’re a bunch of people who obsess about coffee, customer service and always strive to do the right thing for the communities we’re based in and the environment.

It’s easy to say, right?

But ‘doing good’ is at the heart of who we are. It helps us make all the important decisions and most of all, it keeps us doing our little bit to help make the world a better place. Simple!

Our Story

HatHats Coffee was founded by serial entrepreneur Louis Hurst and his wife Lisa in 2015 when Lisa returned to work after taking a few years out to raise the couples 3 children (Amelia, Felix and Hattie).

The couple wanted to be able to create a ‘Good Cup of Coffee’ not just in its taste and flavour but also wanted to make a positive impact on the coffee companies supply chain and the communities it serves.

It was simple, the couple wanted to create a People First, Profit second business that delivered good initiatives at scale and always did ‘the right thing’.

Louis is a pioneer in conscious capitalism and lives by the saying that ‘a business that makes just money is a poor business’. He is also a keen innovator in the Circular Economy and is passionate about finding ways for small businesses to deliver circular initiatives at scale. Why the name HatHats?

Many often ask where the name HatHats comes from. Well, HatHats is named after Louis and Lisa’s youngest child Hattie.

Louis and Lisa already have a group of companies called Amelix named after their two eldest children Amelia and Felix. When they were working on the coffee concept, they had a working title of “HatHats Coffee” after Hattie and the name stuck.

A good cup of coffee

The good cup of coffee concept started life as a sketch on the back of a coffee shop napkin while Louis and Lisa planned what they would like their coffee company to look like.

The idea has grown from there, and you can see a tidied-up version of that original good cup of coffee here.
