Yesterday was not like any other day at the office…
To celebrate our new site at Hangloose Adventure Park in Bluewater, 7 members of HatHats staff stepped away from the coffee machine for a day to tackle England’s longest zipwire, Europe’s biggest swing, and the UK’s only outdoor skydiving machine. Not only that, but the team also got to meet the amazing Shereen (our new Outlet Manager up at Bluewater), our HatHats signage was installed by the waterside, and our shiny new coffee machine was delivered and installed, making it all feel a little more real!
Starting with ‘The Skywire’, the team were suited and booted, led up 5 flights of stairs and suspended on a horizontal platform at the start of the epic zipline, ready to take flight over the amazing lake central to the site. In pairs, they were launched down the line, screaming and laughing (or crying) as they went. We can’t wait to pull the camera footage from that one! Little did they know, that was just a warmup for what was to come…
Next up was the Giant Cliff Swing. This saw our staff hoisted the equivalent of a 22-storey building before plunging 50 metres from the chalky cliffs in a breath-taking free fall. Never did we ever expect ‘HatHats – Together we can’ to be echoing across the lake. It was a hoot!
As if all of that wasn’t thrilling enough, the team were then led to the Skytrek Experience to take on daring obstacles up at a height. Although there were a lot of wobbly knees and “bleep words”, the team were fantastic at reassuring each other and flying through it by the end of the hour –nothing at all to do with the promise of a lunch hour afterwards.
Last but not least, outdoor skydiving.
Swapping their navy uniforms for bright purple flying suits, the team were kitted out with earplugs, goggles, hair nets, and helmets before getting a chance to hover in the outdoor wind tunnel. The chance for our content creator to get inside the arena meant that the moment our staff’s faces met those 120mph winds was not wasted.
