HatHats' Hospitality Coffees Support Ugandan School

This March, HatHats Founder and CEO, Louis Hurst, will be travelling to Uganda to visit projects supported by its foundation. The HatHats Foundation is dedicated to making a real difference in both the developing coffee-growing world and the communities it serves. This trip holds special significance, allowing Louis to see the impact of the foundation's efforts first-hand and strengthen partnerships that help create lasting change.

One of the key stops on this journey will be The Early Learning Primary School in Katabi, Entebbe. This remarkable school serves 423 children aged 3 to 14, with 19 dedicated teachers and 17 additional staff members ensuring that these young students receive the education and care they deserve. The school provides an incredible 18,000 meals each month, ensuring that no child goes hungry while they learn.

The HatHats Foundation proudly supports The Early Learning School, through its partners on the ground and a significant part of its contribution comes from the coffee served at Discovery Park. Every time someone books a meeting room and orders tea or coffee, they are directly helping to change lives.

  • Every cup of the Foundation's filter blend funds 30 minutes of secondary education.
  • 10 minutes of teaching time at The Early Learning School is funded per cup sold.
  • 10 cups fund a watermelon for Watermelon Wednesday.
  • 20 cups plant a coffee plant, supporting sustainable farming for future generations.

The HatHats Foundation is passionate about making wonderful things happen. This visit follows a team visit in October 2023 and is all about ensuring that the support provided is making a tangible difference. Previous trips have been documented through vlogs, and this visit will be shared as well. You can watch the 2023 vlog by clicking here.

This trip is personally funded by Louis Hurst, not the foundation. He strongly believes in seeing the work in action, connecting with the people supported, and ensuring that every pound invested delivers meaningful change. As Louis puts it: "True impact comes not just from giving but from understanding the lives we are changing and continuously striving to do more."

Beyond financial support, HatHats Foundation is also responding to a specific request from The Early Learning School. They have asked for donations of underwear for primary school children, Bic pens, toothbrushes, and toothpaste. To make it easy for the community to contribute, a suitcase has been placed outside the HatHats Shop in Innovation House at Discovery Park. Anyone who would like to help can simply drop their donations into the case, and Louis will personally take them when he visits.

Louis has been travelling to Uganda for over 15 years and believes that there are big things ahead. With every visit, he is reminded of the power of small actions and the incredible impact that can be achieved when people work together. the HatHats Foundation looks forward to sharing more from this trip and encourages anyone who wants to be part of this journey to get involved, whether through donations, supporting coffee initiatives, or simply spreading the word.

Together we can make real change —one cup, one child, and one community at a time.
